Grrrrrrrrrrr!

Kaelyn started growling about a month ago, but it was impossible to capture it on camera because she got shy every time we tried to film her... That's all changed now... Kaelyn embraced her inner animal and is not shy about growling. The growl actually has evolved. Now the growl is an indication that Kaelyn likes something. Are you growl worthy? Check out the video.

10 year reunion and K's first word!

Steve, Kaelyn and I just returned from a beautiful stay at our bed and breakfast in Sonoma County (thanks mom and dad!).   We went back to my home town for my ten year high school reunion.  I had a great time seeing my friends and catching up.  We also got to see lots of family too.  Kaelyn was so inspired by her mom that she started to say her first word, of course, "ma, ma!"  I couldn't be happier!  Take a look, we caught it on video...

Portlandia

Sorry we've been slacking on the blog posts. Things have been just a tad bit busy since we last wrote.  In a nut shell, we have moved to Steve's parents house in Portland, Oregon. Steve plans on changing the background to a Portland image. We have kept busy with unpacking, settling in, visiting with family and friends in the area, taking a boat ride on the Willamette river, and we just returned from a week at the Oregon Coast for Steve's family reunion. We're having a great time. Things are going well as we adjust to our new life in Portland!  Here are some recent pics from our outings.

K not so sure about her very own life vest for our boat ride.

Surf's up! Short Sands Beach (great surfing)

Enjoying a beautiful day at the beach in Oregon.

Enjoying the ride on mommy's back as we hike with cousin Alice and Aunt Meghan.

The view!  K was not too impressed! Laura, Meghan, Cathy and our niece Alice!

Happy 6 Months Old!

Kaelyn is now 6 months old (wow where did those months go?!) and is a very happy and healthy little girl.  She weighs 15 lbs 13 oz and is 27 inches long - long and slender:)  Kaelyn can sit upright without support, has great motor control with her hands, and loves to talk, smile (that melts our hearts) and laugh!  She is getting really good at her tummy "push ups" and wiggles and moves all around on her tummy.  She is not crawling yet, we know it's coming soon.  Kaelyn is also getting her first set of teeth - 2 little pearly whites poking through on her bottom gum.  While we are continuing to offer Kaelyn a variety of solid foods, Kaelyn has not decided what she likes, if she likes it at all.  It's a little more challenging than Steve and I anticipated.  But we are being patient and know she will learn to love to eat when it's right for her.  All in all, we couldn't be more in love with our daughter!

Family Photo Shoot

Steve bought a Groupon for a photo session with Aaron Bluemenshine Photography, so we decided this was a great opportunity to get some family portraits. The pictures were taken at 1 in the afternoon last weekend and it was very bright for Kaelyn to open her big blue beautiful eyes. But overall we are happy to have some pictures of our family!  Enjoy!

Summer & Solids!

School is out for the summer and I am officially on summer vacation!  One of my summer goals is to start introducing solid foods to Kaelyn.  Up until now she has only tried rice cereal.  And now that I have time, I am going to be pureeing up a storm!  We started with carrots and Kaelyn seemed to enjoy the bright orange mush!  Here are some pics of her enjoying her yummy food!

Do I have to eat this?
