Crazy Town

We just want to clear the air and drop a little reality check blog post about little miss Kaelyn and her not so perfect 'crazy town.' Crazy Town is a term that we've given Kaelyn when she goes into a fit of crying, legs pumping, arms flying and head shaking. It's been getting progressively worse the last few nights, and I was up for 3 hours last night trying to get her to calm down and fall asleep, which included a blowout diaper/outfit change. We try many techniques to help calm our crazy town, from swaddling, to shushing, to swinging, rocking, singing/music and sucking. I eventually got her to fall asleep around 1:30 am, using white noise from the Happiest Baby on the Block DVD, which if you've ever heard it, it is a crazy loud and annoying noise, that sounds like the engine room of a submarine. The pacifier also helps calm our crazy town girl, but the problem is once the pacifier falls out, crazy town is back! After getting her to sleep around 1:30 am, she promptly awoke at 2:00 am, since she was hungry again. After the 2:00 am feeding, we had to get her to fall asleep again. Totally exhausted from it all, we just let her sleep with us. Cosleeping seems to have a calming effect or she already has figured out how to get her way:)

The next day, Kaelyn returns to her sweet adorable self, and we quickly forget about the long hard night...

Is this the same Kaelyn I spent a night bonding with 11 days ago who was easily cajoled into sleeping with rocking and a pacifier until her appointed 4 hour feeding time? I have trouble believing "Crazy Town" and Kaelyn are one and the same! I do remember sleep deprivation and if having Kaelyn sleep with you means you can actually get some sleep then so be it no matter whose idea it is! This is just a phase and it's nice of Kaelyn to remind you of her sweet nature in daylight hours. Sending you positive thoughts! Grandma Cathy

Blowout City and Crazy Town!!! Can't wait to see you all in a few weeks. I'll bring nose and ear plugs. It will be a nice break from our serene life here in Florida. But we'll stop to see our new (8th) grandson, Cameron first, who is 4 days old today. See you soon.
